Description
This was made specifically for the BMW vintage /2 Twins to replace the original dipstick, screws right into the oil filler. Complete with silicone seal. Temperature is measured in degrees Fahrenheit, easy to read blue and white(naturally) with a red needle. Mineral oil dampening helps keep the needle stable. The gauge face can rotate while sealed, so you can orient the display for best viewing.Add a high quality stainless steel and aluminum gauge, and keep an eye on your oil temp, in abut 30 seconds.
Airheads generally do a great job of keeping cool-- this just gives you an actual temperature to monitor, rather than worrying or guessing how hot the engine oil is.
Please only check the gauge when safely at a stop.
PLEASE NOTE:
*This comes without oil level markings. You will have line up your original dipstick with this new gauge, and scribe your lines. I used a small micro file, took a minute.
*The shaft is hollow, and some of the mineral damping oil goes into it from the needle hole-- nothing leaks out, and the accuracy and the function are not affected.
