  • Condition: Color and clarity of the glass is excellent and ruby stain is very much intact. There is one small scratch and perhaps some pinpricks, there is overspray of the ruby stain on the base. There is damage to at least three of the snails, small chips or wear. There is also a flea bite or exploded bubble outside rim. And a piece of undissolved mix in the clear design portion.

    Snail spoon holder ruby stained AKA; Compact, Double Snail, Idaho, Small Comet.
    George Duncan’s Sons and Company #360 circa 1891. The United States Glass Company 1891 The glass is clear and any colors you see in the photographs are reflections from the indoors where I photographed the piece. The spoon holder has the mold marks and straw marks and bubbles common in this era of glassware.
    Color and clarity of the glass is excellent and ruby stain is very much intact. There is one small scratch and perhaps some pinpricks, there is overspray of the ruby stain on the base. There is damage to at least three of the snails, small chips or wear. There is also a flea bite or exploded bubble outside rim. And a piece of undissolved mix in the clear design portion.
    3 ¼” diameter at top and 4 7/8” in height. Weight before packing is 14.60 oz.
